Mucky Duck Theatre was started in late 2024 by Portland artists liz HOWLS and Drew Simpson. Sensing the need for a dedicated puppet theater, we built some walls out of pipe and drape inside of Katie Shook's Mudland Playspace and had our first shows (3 Short Stories; pictured above) in December 2024.

We like to work with all kinds of puppets - big and small, rod and hand, marionettes, you name it. Most of our Mucky Duck shows are living room-sized, meaning they're intimate and engaging and work best for small groups (30-40). In summer of 2025 we received a RACC grant to build a bike-pulled puppet theater and the Ten-Speed Theatre Tour was born (above)

Mucky Duck Theatre still performs regularly at Mudland Playspace, but we are also available for birthday parties and school events and any function in need of fine entertainment--for instance, The Story of Rainbow Island & The Golden Peach (above)
